Beach day

What do you do if you live in the middle of Indiana but want to spend a day at the beach?  Well, lucky enough for us, even though we are surrounded by other states and no water, it doesn't take too long to get to the water.  People had been telling us about this great beach on Lake Michigan that was in a really quaint and pretty beach town.  Troy and I decided to make the two hour trip and have a family day at the beach.  We knew that doing this with a 2 year old and 4 year old is a risk.  You never know for sure what you are going to get and when someone might start breaking down.  Our thought was let's just go, have fun, take as it comes and if we don't make it very long it isn't a big deal.  At least we tried.  Well, we are really glad we did because we had such a blast.  The beach was great and the girls loved it and did so well.  And, we loved the little town of New Buffalo, Michigan with it's cute cottages.....

and harbors.....

and, of course, this.  Water as far as you can see stretching all the way to the big, blue sky.

We couldn't wait to dip our toes in....

Dipping our toes in was about as far as we could go because the water was very cold, but that didn't keep us from loving every second of our day at the beach.

I am really glad that we didn't focus on the reasons why the trip could have been difficult, because we would have missed out on an amazing day and finding a beautiful beach that I know we will go back to again.  Sometimes packing up beach toys, towels and snacks and driving two hours is totally worth it.

  1. I look forward to reading your entries--they make my day. It's a blessing to hear from someone who loves being a mommy and is still crazy about her children's daddy.

  2. I full enjoyed your Blog and all the pictures. Families with young children often carry lots of beach toys to keep the youngest ones occupied during the day. Children enjoyed very much a t beach.
