Ashlyn starts preschool

Ashlyn started preschool last week and I still can't hardly believe it.  We are so, so proud of her.  Ashlyn taking this step has been exciting and emotional for us.  A good emotional.  It seems like not long ago that we were holding her in the hospital as a newborn and things were so confusing.  And things felt so sad then, the future not too bright.  We had no idea what to expect and really had no idea what education would look like for her.  In many ways, her future is uncertain, just like all of ours are and her education will look different.  But, these days the future just keeps looking brighter and brighter.

When the search for Ashlyn's preschool began, we were not really sure where the best place would be for her.  Awhile back, Ashlyn's speech therapist, Mandi, began telling us about a speech and language preschool at Purdue.  She told me about how wonderful the program is and how great she thought it would be for Ashlyn.  Mandi made phone calls to people she knows there and after some meetings with the special education team here in our county, we found out that Ashlyn was accepted into the Purdue Speech and Language preschool.  Such a blessing.

Last week was her first day and our hearts were feeling so many things.  I was looking at her with her backpack and big smile and thinking of all the ways that God has led us through so many days of uncertainty to the beginning of preschool.  We are overwhelmed with thankfulness.

These past couple of weeks have been emotional for me with my two girls taking new steps, growing up a little bit and reaching new milestones.  We are settling into this new routine.  And, watching Ashlyn take this step is another part of God's grace to us.....leading and watching over her precious little life.  The preschool days are here!

  1. I can't believe how Ashlyn has grown and you can see that the last 6 months have really been a big change in her personality. At least to me. I'm so excited about Ashlyn getting into the program and Purdue. I'm excited for all of you.
