Beautiful Easter

We had a wonderful Easter weekend.....full of time as a family, worshiping our risen Jesus, traditions, friends and beautiful weather.  One tradition we do every year is dying eggs.....

And during Easter weekend, this darling thing turned 9 months old.

Another tradition I love to do with the girls is make Resurrection Rolls the night before Easter to eat on Sunday morning when we wake up.  They are very easy and are a great way to visually demonstrate and talk about Jesus dying and being raised to life.  It is as simple as a crescent roll (the tomb) with a marshmallow that has been dipped in butter and cinnamon/sugar (Jesus' body) being wrapped inside the crescent roll.  While they are baking the marshmallow disappears and you are left with an empty tomb.  And they taste good! The girls had a lot of fun with this one.

And on Easter Sunday morning, the tomb is empty!

And, of course, before leaving for church trying to get some pictures of everyone in their Easter best.  It is definitely a challenge with two children and a baby and trying to get everyone to look at the same time. We did notice as soon as we walked outside what a beautiful day it was going to be.

We had a wonderful Easter service with our church family and as I was sitting next to my sweet pastor/husband I could tell he couldn't wait to get out of his seat and preach.  I love that about him.  After church we went to the home of our dear friends and partners in ministry, Matt and Nicole.  Many of our friends and their kids were there and we enjoyed a delicious meal together and an egg hunt for the kids.

Tessa slept through the whole egg hunt.....she was nice and comfortable in this play set swing.

What Easter means to us makes it such a beautiful time.  And because of what Christ did for us on the cross, we get to live in the beauty of Easter everyday.  How we love you, Jesus.

Spring Fever

One day last week there was a little bit of snow on the ground, today the sunshine is beautifully shining and it will be in the low 70's.  We are starting to have more days like this and we are loving the spring time.  Being able to get outside is good for our souls.

A couple of weeks ago Kyla had her Spring Break.  At that time we were not having a Spring like week weather wise but we did have so much fun having Kyla home for a week.

Monday morning is typically grocery shopping time, so first day of Spring Break started with everyone in the van and off to Meijer.  Sometimes I think it easier to take them all three to the store because they entertain each other :)

Kyla had some money and gift cards that she had been saving and wanting to use and so we used Spring Break to get to do that.  Her first purchase was at Meijer....how can you resist a Frozen castle with Princess Anna?

The entire week of Spring Break this fort was in our living room and it made me so happy.  Kyla and Ashlyn put it together on Monday afternoon and played and giggled inside of it everyday.

Since Kyla had the week off of school I thought it would be a good time to schedule her 7 year physical.  I knew it wasn't the most exciting thing and not sure how she would feel about it.  It turned out she was so excited for it.  I think she was wanting to see how much she weighed and how tall she was.  Also any doctors appointment is easier to handle when there are no shots. :)

Kyla had a gift card to Barnes and Noble, which is right across from where Ashlyn has her therapy services.  So, one afternoon after dropping Ashlyn off we headed there to pick out a couple of books.  Kyla is a huge book lover so this was so fun for her.

And just to add a little spice to the week, after picking Ashlyn up from preschool one morning, the van would not start.  Me and all three girls were in the van, right outside of Ashlyn's preschool but could not go.  I called our hero (Daddy) to come rescue us.  He showed up with a smile on his face and a calm presence....he is so good for all of the ladies in his life.  He saw it wasn't going to start, called a tow truck and moved all the car seats from the van to his backseat so we could drive home while he waited for the tow truck....we had a baby getting hungry!  The girls thought it was pretty funny to be all in a tight row in the back of Daddy's car.....lots of giggles.

We made a memory and it turned out something was wrong with the starter in the van and it was fixed by that afternoon.

Our next gift card stop was Toys R Us.  We don't often take our kids here so it is fun for them to have gift cards to go.  I explained to Kyla how much she had to spend and she carefully inspected the aisles.  When we got to the Barbie aisle she seriously said, "Wow, I am really going to have to scan this aisle." :)

I love it.  I texted my sister and told her it is like us when we have a gift card to our favorite clothing store. "Serious scanning." :)

Kyla's final choices with her Toys R Us gift cards were a Barbie pool and a set of My Little Ponies.  When she saw the Barbie pool in the store and realized you can put real water in it, it was like love at first sight.

And although we were having cold weather, we still got to sit poolside on Spring Break....

One more little Spring Break project we had was more of a craft project.  For Christmas Kyla had received a kit to make a little hedgehog....it involved minor sewing and following lots of directions so it was hard to find time for it in our everyday life.  She was really wanting to get it done on Spring Break.  I am not going to lie.....this involved me doing most of the work but we had lots of fun completing it.  Also in full disclosure, there were a few corners cut on this little project, but we now have a hedgehog....

And we had many moments of Spring Break that looked just like any other.....laundry being done and sisters having fun.

We are so glad the Spring time sun and warmth (and even some rain) are making their presence known.....

Warmer days, playing outside, new growth......welcome Spring.
